bacterial treatment during hypo

My powder blue showed signs of ich so I put all the fish into hyposalinity over the course of 3 days. The tang seemed much happier and all fish are eating normally but the tang developed red spots on his fins and a watanabe angel has developed sores on his sides. After looking it up online and talking to the lfs they recommended myacin-2. I have gone through 3 days of treatment but it has only gotten worse.

I check my water daily for PH, ammonia, and salinity and I have a chiller and heater on the tank to keep the temp constant. Water changes are conducted daily for a 5% change.

Am I treating for the wrong infection. Is there another product I should try. I have had these guys for years and was just getting to move them to an upgraded tank. I don't want to loose them now.

They may have secondary infections from the ich, a pic would really help. Maracyn 2 is a decent antibiotic----if the sores are bacterial. Is there any fuzziness or cotton-like stuff around the sores (indicates fungus)? How big are they? Ammonia is a big concern in a QT, are you testing? Also, PH in hypo needs to be watched. Any of these conditions could be to blame, IMO. BTW, are you compensating for the lost meds when you do WCs?

There is no cotton stuff it is just red. On the angel the scales seem to be a bit paler around the sore but not cotton like. I check ammonia and ph frequently through out the day and have not had any issues yet. I do the water changes right before I dose for the day. I guess I was assuming since there is daily dosing that the product wears off in 24 hours. I could stop water changes until the treatment is complete. I only have two more doses for the maracyn-2.

I will try and post a picture momentary.

Here is the tang. I cannot get a pick of the angel because it keeps hiding when the camera comes out.

Is there something else I should be treating with?

That is a bad infection. I would do a FW dip ASAP to see if it has velvet of flukes (which hypo isn't affective against.) IME ich does not usually cause such bad infections, but velvet can.

I know some people have doubled the dosage of Maracyn II, but I've never had to go beyond Maracyn II so maybe someone else can chime in.

Wow, that's nasty, if i see the pic right. I'm surprised this fish is eating. they both have these sores? These look like a severe reaction to a toxin. Did you take enough time to drop SG? Are the fish still under hypo conditions? The fact that both fish have this makes me think this isn't bacterial, but something in the water. I've seen similar stuff when a fish reacted badly to copper. I don't think the antibiotic will help. I'm at a loss and just doing a semi-educated guess; the first thing I'd do is a 50% and do WCs as often as possible. I hope someone can be of more help; in the meantime, I have a feeling that new water will help.

It's definately getting worse fast. Just from this morning it is much worse. The fish are still under hypo. I took three full days to get the salinity down and I did very slow constant water changes instead of big water changes to make sure the salnity dropped very slowly.

They are still eating. I will do a big water change now.

IMO, I don't think this is velvet. With symptoms like this, on two fish, all I can suggest is a best guess. This still looks toxin related to me, but even that's 50-50. Major water changes may help a lot and certainly won't hurt. I'd continue the antibiotic after the WCs; possibly at a bigger dosage as large angels suggested. Heavy aeration wouldn't hurt, either.
