Bad impeller cause skimmer overflow?

I have an S300 Eshopps skimmer... very clean, the air tube and whole airway is clean and clear. It is overflowing like crazy. The impeller is old so could that cause overflow? I have done big water changes in case something got into the water that might be causing the problem- that has not helped.

I put a different skimmer in and no overflow. I have cleaned the S300 very well, so it should not be an oil/ new skimmer issue. Might it be the impeller?

did you be sure the air injector port hose or silencer is not stopped up.. Is it over flowing with mostly water or bubbles? also check for holes in the air intake line

Thanks, the silencer and air tube, etc. are clear. No holes in the system either.
