Bad luck with anemones

I have had several types of anemones over the past 3 years and every one has died within a couple months. They start by hiding behind the rock and then die soon after. I thought it could be my lighting but it cant be I have 4-65w power compacts. So does anybody have any suggestions.

What kind of anemone did you have? And I think PC light is not enough for most of anemone. I thought you need MH. Try to upgrade your light to MH.

Several of them were just basic condylactis, but I have tried green bubble's also. My corals in the tank have never seemed to mind the lights.

There are allot of reasons for death of anemones, predators in your tank, water quality usually being the #1 reason for death.
Water movement, feeding or lack there of.
How old is your tank?
Where you feeding them?
Do you do water changes?
What temp do you keep your tank at?
Loads of reasons why you cant keep them alive.
Maybe some info on the tank and how you keep it are in order before we can figure out why or why not?;)

I have a beautiful green BTA that I have kept successfully for almost 2 years now, I have never once fed it other than what it grabs when I feed the tank, I have 4-65w PC's and it has only moved one time in the time I have had it, I have a pair of WS maroons that never leave it and spawn every other Sunday, I do a 10% water change every week and I run carbon in a canister which also gets changed every week.

My BTA has more than tripled in size since I got it and during the day when it stretches out and opens up all the way it is over 12" across, it has a full 1/3 of my 55g tank mostly to itself other than some polyps that have spread across the rock behind it over time but they don't seem to be bothered by it touching them.

I also did not attempt a BTA until my tank was at least 6 months old and then I lost 2 before aquiring this one, I think tank maturity, cleanliness and maintenance has more to do with success than anything.

My first BTA I fed regularly and it split and both died, my second one was too small for my huge maroon and she beat it up and it did not survive, this one was a good 6" across when I found it so it was able to take the beating from the female maroon. Good luck but take your time and be prepared to spend some time on tank maintenance!!!!

My tank is about 16 monthes in runnning. It has been prabably 3 monthes since I tryed a anemone. I try to do a 4-5 gal. water change every other week. And for filtration I have a canister with several stages of filtration, and a UV sterilizer running off of it. I also have a hang on filter. and a BAk pak skimmer. For water flow I run a rio 600 and 2 rio 90's.

So saying all that it has really baffled me as to why they do not survive! I dont know what I do wrong.
