Bad molt?

Hi
I've got a Gonodactylus Smithii, came as a tiny hitchhicker, must of been under 1cm long and its now a year old and just over an inch, i got it out of my reef about a month ago and shes in a 9L tank.
I think shes had a bad moult as shes lying out in the open on her side/back and keeps squirming around and has been for 4 days/3 nights now.
does anyone know why this is or anything i can do about it?
Thanks
John

sound's like she's not to happy cant say exactly that it is a bad molt unless she was closed up without seeing her for a period of time and something startled her and made her freak and come out. i wouldn't keep any mantis in anything smaller than a 15g to many problems with changing parameter s

sorry for posting again my phone decided it wanted me to post that without finishing...check your levels and salinity and hope for the best since she is already out trying going a slight water change.

shes was only going to stay there while she was small, then was gonna upgrade when she grew, we didnt see her for a few days before she did this, so it could of been the start of a moult, but its a new tank, so she might of just found a burrow that we couldnt see or know where it was. I did a water change about a week ago and changed 2L, quickly tested No2 and ammonia last night, No2 was 0.05ish and ammonia was about 0.2 (too high i know) but i can do another water change if you think it will help, although im slightly worried the last one was what caused it as a snail died in my reef after i did the waterchange and i used the same water, although everything else in both tanks seems fine.

hmm.. well if it was a bad molt which we cant say for certain it was i would not do one. did you do any cleaning around the house with harsh cemicals or have a dog that you put flea treatment on?

my mum says she hasnt used any harsh chemicals near the tank, although it is in the kitchen, and the dog only has a flea collar on, which is quite old

found this on the shedding sticky at the top of the section : "The actual ecdysis is the time of greatest danger for the stomatopod. If any of the old cutlicle is stuck to the new due to wounds or disease, it will be unable to pull free. This is often fatal particularly if the gills remain covered suffocating the stomatopod"
so she could be stuck and just struggling, it looks like this is the case, if it is would it be nicer to put her out of her misery quickly instead of letting her suffer when she is going to die anyway?

Are you sure you mean a 9L tank?

Do you have another tank that's mature with good water params? If so you may be able to put some water from the mature tank in to help reduce the poor conditions.

yea its about 9.4L (re_sjo its the one on the other forum) and i have a 24G reef with good water, so ill do a water change tomorow, if the water gets better has she got a good chance of survival? and if that is the problem wouldnt it affect the xenia in the tank aswell?

oh, dont know if this will help or not, but her clubs have turned blue with white edges, and she has a dark stripe down her back
