Bad Spectrum ?

I am getting some brown alge in the sand bed. I have been told this can be caused by dirty water and bad light spectrum. I only have snails and zoos in my 75 gl right now and i know that there is a little waste in there but how can I tell if the spectrum is bad? Is the age of the bulb the only way to tell ?

Dirty water yes how often do you do water change. It may be cyano which is not caused by bad lights. How old are the lights though?

You could buy a spectrometer but they are expencive.
Age is a good guage for this
But a few sand stars will clean it up for you too.

Bulb is not that old. I think it is cyano but was just curious.
