Baffles in Glass Sump

Is there any reason that I can't use acrylic baffles in my glass sump? I know that using glass and acrylic will cause problems when trying to make a water tight seal, but anybody have bad experiences using it for baffles? Just wondering before I have some plexiglass cut.

if you are have dsb in the sump make sure it thick enough that it will not bow and pull away from the glass

I am going to use 3/16" thick acrylic and will first tack it in place using an epoxy stick. After the epoxy dries I will put on the silicone. I think that should hold pretty well.

I currently have an acrylic sump with acrylic baffles and silicone is the only adhesive. They haven't budged at all.

hmm!! just there was a thread on here a while back saying that you would have to wedge them in place... hopfully someone will post an answer for us.. lol

I don't think the silicone sticks to acrylic...
It does stick to it just not as well as glass....I also used acrylic and glass sump and a s**t load of silicone and it works great!!!!

Glass on Glass or Acrylic on Acrylic is a better option. The problem is that silicone doesn't stick to acrylic very well and acrylic glue doesn't bond glass very well. I know people do it anyways and many times it will gets the job done ok. So if you wanna take the road less traveled then knock yourself out :)

All three of my sumps are glass tanks with acrylic baffles, the oldest one is 5+ years old, and the silicone is working great.

I would go with 1/4 acrylic.
