Bak-Pak vs. Remora

Starting up an 18 gallon nano reef and am torn between the Bak-Pak and Remora. I'm looking for all the opinions and suggestions I can get.

I have a BakPak 2R (Reef Ready) and it has been working VERY well for me.

I have used Bak Pak 2R as well and liked it. No problems, worked fine.

I had a bak pak and hated it.
VERY loud, and not so great skim.
I never owned a remora, but when researching skimmers I saw alot of good feedback on remora.
If it's between the 2, definitely pick remora over bak pak

I would say Bak Pak, seems to have less issues with people

I have used 2 remoras and 2 remora pros. for your tank the remora with maxijet would work great.

I have used both on the same tank and with the same pump. The Bakpak outperformed the Remora by far. It is also much cheaper. You can usually find a used Bakpak for $50 or so.

I have in the past used both and the is no comparison, the remora is better. I can't believe someone would put them in the same class. The remora has a far more advanced design. The bakpak is loud and always needs adjustment. Go to the home page and look at the reviews.

I own both the Remora and a Bak-Pak 2. I'm using both with MJ-1200's. I'd have to say the Remora if much more efficent. I have also have micro-bubble problems with the Bak-Pak.

I just noticed in my marine depot magazine that they now have a Nano Remora for tanks from 5-25 gallons. it comes with maxijet 900. it measures 16" tall and 2.75" thick. no price was listed. That may be a good one for your tank.

A nano Remora? I'll check that out. I'm leaning toward a Remora. Thanks for the input guys.

I've got a remora with mag 3 and it's a tad noisy but pulls more skimmate then the bak pak did when I had it.
