baking soda

I have my 20 gal QT fairly close to my laundry room, where there is sometimes the smell of laundry soap. I have a HOB filter, and have a little fan to try to prevent any fumes from getting into the tank. Is it ever advisable to have an open box of baking soda to soak up any fumes around tanks? I have seen some people suggest it to decrease any smell from a tank. Thanks.

Although open boxes of Arm & Hammer have been used in refrigerators for years, I doubt an open box will do much in a larger room for odor control.

Just dont let it fall in to the tank! You might experience a slight Alkalinity problem.
