Ballast pulse

Ok I bought a used ballast and light fixture. I used it for some where around a year and then gave it and a tank to my mom. I go over to change the bulb and put the new one in and sat down to watch for a little bit and after about a half hour or so the ballast kinda hummed off key and you could see the light pulse it continued to do this about every five min does anyone know whats up i don't know it the pulse started either is it the new bulb or is my ballast on the way out?

Make sure the socket and lamp base is making good contact. Sometimes a poor connection can cause a lamp to flicker.

It could be the lamp is just stabilizing.

If it continues for awhile after a few days it could be something else.

What ballast are you using?

I don't know who makes it or anything its just a black box style i think the the lfs either builds or rebuilds them. I will check on the light tomorrow and post back thanks for the reply.
