Not bad considering it's under 48w compacts......it was under a 36w until about 3-4 weeks ago.

No plans for frags. I'm wanting them to completely cover the rock. I also have them growing on the left side and back....though, it's just a few at the moment. I can really notice the change in size of most of the polyps. They've got noticeably larger.

If any leave the rock, you'll be the first to know.

If I can't get it better, I'll go bigger. Oh well, it really doesn't do the color justice, but here's another fts. I'm really enjoying this 5 gallon!

I see you have a black ray shrimp goby. They're cool little fish. Does it have a shrimp paired with it? If so, I'm wondering if it hides a lot. Mine hides all of the time until you put food in, then he's out and munching.

I had a shrimp in the tank, but I don't believe he made it. He was busy for 3-4 days after getting him, then I never saw him again. They never paired.

I want to try another one though....maybe next group order.

Here's a shot of him from this morning. He's been staring at me all day.

EDIT: This goby is very friendly and in the open some days.....then again, other days he hides.

I love gobies and shrimp, so these pairs are awesome to me. That said, I haven't had the best luck with the shrimp either. They always seem to come in soooo tiny. I drip them for 2-3 hours (as I do with all shrimp, crabs, lobsters, clams, etc.), but they still do not seem to do well. The only bigger one I've found (probably close to 1.25") is the one that's done best.

They get louder as they age, too. I got Jenn a Yasha Hase and Alpheus pistol from jason back when he had a store. The Yahsa Hase died, but the shrimp was still engineering, so I had to get her another Yasha Hase. The shrimp has gotten huge. The goby comes out more now, too. I've been awakened by the pistol in the middle of the night with a long series of excavation blasts:).

Update....a month later. Slightly different angle due to house cleaning.
Still getting good growth.

A nice zoa collection! I hope my Bambam orange frag will spread fast. Unfortunately it's been turned over a number of times and used to shore up the tunnel entrance by my Alpheus shrimp. He is a bright red and white one that does not get big. I had him for a few years now and he is about one and a quarter inches long. But he can make a real loud sound, too. I love him and his tenant, too (a yellow watchman goby.) However, these is another annoying thing about this shrimp - tunneling. The foreground of my tank is frequently changing with new entrances or new orientation of the entrances. The shrimp often steals my zoa frags to shore up the entrances. However, thanks to these entrances, my watchman goby is always in the front of the tank.

My little guy looks just like this picture:

Ah....the Randall shrimp. The name threw me.
I had one with my hifin, but apparently he didn't make it.....or he's really good at hiding.

Yeah Jack, this little 5 gallon is doing really well (knock on wood).
I did add the other set of lights to this tank, so all in all, I've had 96 watts of light for the past month. I've got the lights so close to the tank, that I wasn't getting much light on the back side of the tank....now I have more than enough....considering it's about 6 1/2 inches above my lowest zoas.
