I'm gonna have to disagree with mike. I see the leg he is talking about and its supported by another 2x4 on the end which would withstand the weight of the tank alone even without the other support there. I'm not saying it couldn't be the stand I just don't think that 1 2x4 caused that due to the fact the other 2x4 support in that area is flush with both top supports and could easily hold the weight in that corner.

Sorry to hear about the tank failure. I know it is after the fact, but your stand was not built properly.

(1) verticle supports not flush with horizontal
(2) verticle supports needed in this area
(3) need a whole bunch of horizontal supports here (or at least in area that tank has supports on the bottom) to support the bottom of the tank

Bummer, I had a 240 crack on the bottom and it leaked all over my wood floors causing lots of damage, talk about a helpless feeling watching the water flow all over knowing there aren't enough towels in ther entire house to soak it up. Mine was a glasscages and I think there may have been a pressure point somewhere on my stand, it was up for a year before the crack. From that point on I will only do acrylic, I need the piece of mind and can live with the occaisonal scratch

Strange break pattern. Is there any chance that that corner of the stand was ever so slightly different in height?
