Banded Bamboo Cat Shark Inquiry?

Hello everyone, I just purchased a Banded Bamboo Cat Shark egg about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I placed it inside my Aquarium and everything seemed fine except for a couple of days ago my egg starting floating. I did alittle further investigating and found that along with the floating egg their was a white mucos like film surrounding the egg accompanied by a nasty smell that is getting worse. I cleaned off the egg and scrapped the shell and saw and air bubble inside. Is my little shark alive or dead. Please help!

Sorry, but there is nothing living in there based on the conditions you described. There are many times that the baby dosen't survive or that the cases/eggs aren't fertilized prior to being laid. Either could be the issue in your case. I have seen many like the one that you have described over the years. When a shark is developing in the egg case you can see it moving sometimes with the aide of a flashilight. I would diffinently remove the egg case so as not to foul your tank at this point.

I went to my Local Pet Store "Animabilia" in Wappingers Falls, New York. They replaced my Shark Egg for free and scrapped it so we could see if the little guy was alive. Their it was swimming around inside, it so small it looked like an Inch Worm. He is in my tank and happy now so I have to wait the full 180 days for it to hatch. Can't wait!

Shark pups are extremely sensitive. You must acclimate them for ATLEAST a half an hour, especially if still in the egg case. Any change in salinity, ph, nitrate, nitrite, etc...; I'm talking like hundredths of a point and you're running the risk of sealing the sharks fate. Patience is always the key in this hobby but extra precaution should be taken with a pup.

I let the bag acclimate to my tanks temperature for an 1 1/2 hours and then I placed a drip for another 4 hours so I think he will be okay. The current temperature is steady at 83 degrees Farenheit.
