Banded Cat Shark Egg Inquiry?

Hello everyone, I just purchased a Banded Bamboo Cat Shark egg about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I placed it inside my Aquarium and everything seemed fine except for a couple of days ago my egg starting floating. I did alittle further investigating and found that along with the floating egg their was a white mucos like film surrounding the egg accompanied by a nasty smell that is getting worse. I cleaned off the egg and scrapped the shell and saw and air bubble inside. Is my little shark alive or dead. Please help!

hold the egg up to the light keeping the egg in water and look and see if its moving or if the gills are moving.

Sorry to say but your egg is more than likely dead . The air bubble and smell are because it's roting. And the air bubble is whats causing it to float .

I'm sorry. Everybody says that hatching an egg is more reliable then buying a juvinale. I say its a 50/50 crap shoot either way. Better luck in the future .

I have had better luck hatching eggs - that way you minimize the risk of causing stress due to transportation and climatization. IMO eggs here are about 1/2 the price of a newly hatch shark, therefore it mays it easier to justify 50/50 odds

Theres just been a lot of people with shark eggs dying on them lately. Maybe its just the fluctuation in new fish keepers trying to keep sharks.

ive had 3 shark eggs and all of them have hatched and done very well, and my girlfriends brother had one just hatch and it ate the very first day it was born. eggs are the way to go IMO

where are u getting ur eggs from ,because i can get a baby for $6.00 more than an egg and a 12'' baby for 25.00 more than an egg.

I went to my Local Pet Store "Animalbilia" in Wappingers Falls, New York. They replaced my Shark Egg for free and scrapped it so we could see if the little guy was alive. Their it was swimming around inside, it so small it looked like an Inch Worm. He is in my tank and happy now so I have to wait the full 180 days for it to hatch. Can't wait!

Raw88gt, your telling me I just took on look at this little guy in his egg and I thought it was amazing. Still can't wait for the little guy to hatch though. I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve.

Why we are on the subject I am doing the friend thing and keeping a tank for a buddy. He had an egg that he thought had gone bad so he cut it open. Well guess what wasn't dead. So here it goes swimming around with its sack in tow. We captured it and placed it in an incubator for the last couple of weeks and the sack is now about the size of a pea. When the shark hatches is the sack totally gone or does it still have some hanging on. My question is to the time that I need to start feeding him as well as letting him get to moving in the the tank.

APfish, you make me wonder if I should have thrown the dead egg in the garbage. My house is warm do you think I still have a chance to save him. I keep the temp high.
