Shark egg help

If you think it is a zebra, realize that they can reach 3 feet by their first year. Do you really have the space? Based on the egg size, it is probably not but possible I guess if it was from a small female. The shape and color is correct.

looks like a zebra to me but on the smaller side i have heard about these getting accidentally shipped to the US before and being mis-marked at the store. alprazo is right, most aquarists do not have the space nor experience to raise zebra pups.

Zebra eggs are the size of your hand.
I would guess brown banded bamboo shark - maybe a white spotted bamboo depending on who the wholesaler is.

Happens all the time. We had a wholesaler who brought in shark eggs, and made it a point to request all the bigger ones. Hatched 5 zebras within two years. But, the wholesaler caught on eventually of course. Was a cool experience while it lasted.

Or the skill set. The above mentioned sharks were a serious pain to get eating. Only 3/5 survived. Maybe we were doing it wrong, but the buyers and local aquariums shared the same sentiment. Would never attempted it on my own...

Tropicorium in Michigan near Detroit has captive bred two in the past 6 months. They have bamboos and Eppies too all captive bred

Yes sorry captive Hatched zebras. They breed the bamboo and Eppies or at least that's what I was told over the phone. Anyone ever been there? It's a 3 hr drive one way for me so I haven't made the trip yet

If you have been there are they as short and annoyed as they sound on the phone in person? Needless to say the guy on the phone wasn't making me want to drive 10 mins to the store let alone the 6 hr round trip it would be... He just kept telling me to come in, I kept trying to explain it's 3 hrs from me... He didn't get it

I go a few times a year. They are about 1:45 from my house and 30 minutes from where I work. They are usually very friendly and very busy on the weekends. I've never been on a weekday as they are open the same hours I am working.

If you decide to make the trip, ask for Ray, he's the owner.

Thanks for the info. I have been told by another member that they are super busy on the weekends, like can't hardly walk through the place busy. I'm going to make the trip this summer sometime but sounds like I need to figure out how to do it during the week.

Did Perrin give up ownership after all the legal stuff?

I don't know of any captive bred zebras in private hands in the US. Several facilities are doing amazing with captive breeding them, though.
