Bangaii expecting.... Thoughts.

Hi all,

Bought to be a Daddy as I have a pair of Bangaii Cardinals and male is at day 28 with mouth just starting to gap. Unfortunately, I am only going to accommodate best I can in display... I have a large long spine urchin and created another four inch circular three high with lid safe area from gutter screen as all other fish in display are too big to get thru .... I am hatching brine shrimp, however, getting those to the frye may not work as other fish may get to shrimp first....

Will frye take any spectrum powder I feed tank?

When do they release the babies in the photo period?

Also, heard papa can gather back up into his mouth if babies are threatened?

If frye go throw overflow and survive the trip to inline refugium, I will easily get the brine shrimp to them.

Going to get the flashlight with red lens out tonight and check tank...

Tips and thoughts from those having tried this welcome....

Bangaii expecting.... Thoughts.

30 days exactly..... Must of happened in middle of night. Lights on and one in overflow before taking ride down a floor to inline refugium and one found in spines of urchin.. Both eating hatched brine shrimp. Was hoping to rescue more before predation :(

Video of one just finished eating first meal of baby brine in cup before releasing in refugium.

Congratz!! Even one baby is a success. I hope mine holds. I'm expecting sometime on or after June 8th but we'll see if he holds that long. He has been eating them.

Curious, how do you know he has been eating them? Did he spit out and then go after them? I missed the initial release, so don't know the behavior .....

My wrasse ate a few and the filter sock got the rest when mine got released. My daughter shed a couple tears...terrible for her to see but the wrasse was happy!

I watched the girl give him eggs and two days later he was eating. The most common literature says that sometimes he just swallows (eating) them. This is supposedly very common with young males and not that uncommon later due to the fact they have to go for so long without food.
