bangaii suggestions

My bangaii has little fins coming out of his gills on both sides, and I would like to save some of the fry this time, does anyone have any suggestions on getting him to release the fry from his mouth?

I notice that every time mine is about to let them go.. he becomes agitated and starts juggling them around in his mouth more than normal.... almost like he is organizing/choking on them. When this occurs I wait till the lights go out, I turn off all flow to my display and only run the moon light LEDs. it usually takes about an hour but he will start to release them and the fry will swim towards the lights... then I just net them.

Side note: In all the batches I have had they always arrive on day 23 or 24 and none are released during the day.
