Hi folks,

Well !!!!!!!

Just thought I would let you all know that I encouraged my male to release last night. Or should I say early this morning.

I think that there were 14 in total. This is the largest that he has released so far. Ok, perhaps we have had this many in the past. but only a few, 50% made it through the gambit of not being eaten, before arriving in the sump.

Thanks to the suggestion, Jacob, I think you may have suggested that I turn the lights on and then I could catch the male easily. Well it worked. Thanks

I will take pictures and post later tonight.

Yipeeee !!!!!

Steve

Glad it worked for you! I just caught mine the other night as well and induced him to release. Good luck.

have you had success with these before? I recently got lucky. Have been trying to raise my friends hatches as he goes to Germany all the time and can't do it. With the last batch I lost 4 in the tank. Turns out 3 of them are now 3 months old.

If you have done this before, what is your feeding schedule like?
Have you learned anything keen?

I have found that I was just trying too hard. Letting them go in my tank was the best thing I could have done. I'll be trying again with a different approach, maybe we can swap notes.

Good luck, will stop by to check out your pics. Kevin

Kevin,

This is my fourth batch or so now and to date I have only lost a couple along the way. If I remember, one I put in the tank with an older brother that ate him :(, and the other I lost because he was just a weaker little one I think.

I feed on BBS about 3 times a day to start with and then as the get older, I reduce the feed down to 2 times and then once per day. I use decapsulated brine shrmp eggs for my BBS hatches.

Pictures coming later today.

Kathy,

Seem to be coping at the moment. There is quite a lot of space for them so to speak. We will see what happens.

Vikki does not like the Maroons so they may be moved :)
