Banggai Cardinal Breeding

This is going to be the breeding tank build thread along with the breeding log for my cards. so far, i have a 10 g tank set up with an external filter. i am going to end up attaching my breeding tank to my main tank (29 gallon) i have 12 pounds of live rock. i have my rockscaping in a way where i think it will benefit the cards. there are a couple of small caverns for the babies. this tank is like a mix between a breeder and sump. i will have the tanks hooked up together in the fashion of a sump so that the water is the same in both tanks so that i can easily move the fish between the two tanks. I will have a CUC in my breeder (3 hermits, 3 snails, and an emerald crab). i cant get a cleaner shrimp or peppermint because they will try to "socialize" with the fry. i might get a sexy shrimp or two though as a permanent resident of the tank.
Here are some pictures of what i have so far. i don't have the tanks set up yet because i am waiting for a one way valve (a check valve, or anti-suction valve) incase the power goes out.
My cards have produced eggs twice now, and are i a 5 week series. the male hasn't taken any eggs because he is too small. i am hoping he will take them this time (which may be in a few days).

i have connected the two tanks with an overflow box and a return pump. i had to cut the hood a little to accomidate everything. when i added more live rock, the tank cycled, so i added two snails, three hermits, an emerald crab, and a yellow clown goby. here are some pictures.

my cardinals bred yesterday. it was weird though. they did the dance after the egg transfer. they transfered eggs at night, with no dancing the previous night, then switched eggs and danced the following day. strange... the male had a couple eggs with him though.
i tried to put him into the breeding tank at night by using a big plactic cup that he swam into and i transfered him into the breeding tank. he freaked out and spat out 2 eggs, but he is still holding a few (i can tell because he won't eat). he was pretty stressed out after the move. normally, i would transfer both of them into the tank before they switched eggs to avoid him spitting any out, but this time i had no warning. also, i didn't feed him extra before the eggs, so he may spit them out for food this time.
hopefully it will be ok.

Any more pics? Nice clown goby- I didn't add one to mine in fear the pair might attempt to eat it... but now I may give it some more thought, so there are other fish in the tank. Good luck :) Following along :)

I just read that the male will fast for 7 to 10 days while holding the fry. They need plenty of oxygen in the water so that he can breath easily with all those little guys in his mouth otherwise he will spit then out in order to gulp more oxygen from the water. Good luck
