The first time that mine had his he held until day 28 and then finally spit...the all were kept alive for 2 weeks on straight bbs. then I started to switch them over to frozen cyclopeez...this whole time the breeder net was cleaned every 2 days...no losses...
Then I switched competely to cyclopeze and they mostly all died off over the next 2 weeks...Not sure if they didn't take to the frozen food or what..I thought the bbs would have been much less nutritious. There is only one left alive from this batch and it is going strong just over 2 months old
The next batch I tried only Cyclopeez. All died within a week.
My advice is to stick with bbs as long as you can. Feed a ready batch in small amounts throughout each day, but a new batch every day. If they are older than 48 hours then they loose all nutritional value...
I think for my next attempt I will try to add vitamins before feeding the bbs so that they are much more nutritional and I can possibly keep them alive longer. Just wanted to share with you my experience as it is new for me as well and so far this is what I've tried.
They haven't bred a 3rd batch yet... Not sure why but I am feeding like crazy.
Good luck
