Banner with Ich

I have a banner that came down with ich last saturday in my display tank. He previously had an ich outbreak in my quarantine tank and I had it treated with copper with 6 weeks and another 6 weeks without copper and it did not show any sign of ich. My display tank had never had an ich outbreak and the last addition to the tank was more than 3 months ago. I transfer the banner to my display tank and one week later... bam.. ich.
Where did that ich came from? None of the other fish shows any signs of ich in my display tank. I am now treating the tank with vitamins supplement, a uv streliser and a garlic enriched pellets. Seems to be able to contain the ich to only the banner.

WELCOME TO REEF CENTRAL!

From your description, the Marine Ich in the display tank most likely came from it being introduced with the bannerfish. Either it wasn't 'cured' or there was a contamination between the QT and the display. It's not uncommon for this to happen.

I'd question you treating with copper for 6 weeks. What copper medication recommends using it for 6 weeks?

I heard that ich lifecycle can lasts up to 6 weeks so I use that time frame. No signs of ich after the treatment for 6 weeks. None of the existing fish in the display tank has ich. The ich is only contained on the banner. I did not add anything for more than 3 months to the display tank.

The 'normal' copper treatment, with an effective copper concentration, lasts about 14 days. No more copper treatment beyond this is normally needed.

What copper medication did you use? What test kit did you use to measure and control the copper concentration? and, What copper concentration did you hold it at for those 6 weeks?
