Bansai growth question

HAHA

My GARF is actually not that slow of a grower. A few months ago i took a single polyp the broke off when i moved my frag and it is now incrusted over the entire plug and starting upward. I would say the main frag is also a medium grower

:lmao: my GARF has actually been a pretty fast grower as well (I run T5s). I started with a 1.5" frag and in a bit over a year it has grown into a nice tree that is over 5.5" tall and 6.5" wide at the top.

It seems to take a while getting established, then it starts to encrust more than grow upward. Then there's a LOT of beginnings of branches, then it seems like the next thing you know you have a good size colony.

Just give it time. If it browns on you at the beginning, that's normal too. It will color back up over time.

I agree with this, it is what my GARF Bonsai did.

I also vote for Thread of the Month...nominated for funniest thread.:spin1:

Best typo ever

AWESOME TYPE-O....

we all make mistakes, the only reason we all find it so funny is because we've had similar type-o...

Umm... the GARF Bonsi that I had grew on my 1" by 1" dick in about a month. They really dont start to have good growth till they have a nice strong base!

LOL don't be sorry about the typo, it made my day. And i'm sure it did the same for quite a few.;)

I know this thread made my day. And good luck with the growth! I want to get a garf myself someday so this is good info.

Well it's been growing a little bit since I first stated. Encrusting like an encrusting monti.
Hope it turns upward soon.

Next question is, Does a real bansai have the longer lanky branches only? Or could it also look like a tricolor acro too?

Why is it you don't capitalise the first word in your sentences?

Why is it you don't punctuate the ending of your sentence?

Carry on now.. bye bye.

Here is the small frag on the actual bonsai. It turned a brownish maroon but as you all were saying it will color back up soon? The polyps are very bright green like the other, but retracted because I am picking it up in the picture. Does this guy look like a real bonsai?
