Barebottom Zoa Tank and Wavebox?

Has anyone ever done a barebottom zoa/paly tank? If so PRO's / CON's...

I am thinking about setting up a shallow (72"X24"X12") zoa/paly tank with a Wavebox. Any thoughts, I was concerned that 12" might be too shallow for a wavebox since the overflow drops the water level down to about 9" , but wasn't sure?

as far as pros and cons of a BB polyp tank, there are no cons, unless you dont like to have absolute control of your water column, absolute control of your flow schematics and the ability to permanently export all excess nutrients. If those things are not desirable to you then a BB tank isnt for you regardless of what kind of corals you intend on keeping. ;) I might be more than a little biased against sand though, not that there arent many fantastic systems that use it

as far as the wavebox on a shallow tank like that. cant say. I have never seen, nor played with one on a shallow tank like that. You may get better experienced answers to that question in the Tunze forum.

If you are building this tank, and dont already have it, I would suggest going deeper than 12". I like 16" for frag tanks. If you have the tank very packed with corals, that extra 4" allows you a lot more control as far as what you really want to accomplish with your flow.
