Base rock color

Heres the deal, I helped a friend setup a 125g and we used 170 pounds of base rock and about 40 pounds of live rock, we set his tank up 4 months ago and the new base rock still doesnt have any color. There are a few spots of coraline, but other than that nothing. The bioload as of now is only a single Coral Beauty and he has a 15 gallon fuge with Cheato. The skimmer is a Euroreef rs135 and it skims very well. Lights are 3 ea 175w reeflux bulbs that run 8 hours a day. I know 4 months is still a little early and 40 pound of live isnt much and maybe the tank hasnt reached a stabilized level for good coraline growth yet, but I still expected at least green algae to coat the surface. My only other idea is that maybe the system may be to clean. Any thoughts

When I set my tank up with some baserock (about 25% live 75% base) It took about 2 months for the baserock to start getting that dirty rock look. Then the algae spike hit and went away and not the rocks have that semi-natural looks. Still to this day some of the rock does have some white patches that look unnatural.

I would say just give it some time. My tank didnt have any livestock when mine turned. You just have alot of rock and alot of water so it could take longer. Mine was contained in a small area.

Thanks, it just aggravates me because if we would of wanted the rock to stay white, then of course it would of been green in three days:)
