Basement return pump question.

I have a 180g display tank and a 100g sump in my basement. I am trying to decide on a return pump to fit my needs. I have 14' head pressure and would like in the ballpark of 1200 gph all said and done.

Option 1- I have a reeflo barracuda pump with a baldor motor. Can easily handle my situation . Pulls 250w

Option 2 - look into a DC pump for energy savings. Can they handle this head pressure and still have flow?

Option 3 - suggestions??

Thanks

I've been running an Iwaki pump for 10 years. No issues other than the screws for the fan cover rusting in place.

Model number MD-40RXT- 115NL.

Iwaki. I have a basement sump and use an Iwaki MD100RLT. Because of head pressure I only get a flow rate of about 600 gph. From my experience DC pumps do not do well with head pressure. The ability to control the flow rate with DC pumps can be solved with the use of a gate valve on the return from sump line. Check this forums home page for the head loss calculator.

The Iwaki is about $450

i have a similar setup and run a jebao 18000. been running flawlessly at 65% for two yrs. i push about 1000gph 20ft horizontal and 11ft up...best $189 i ever spent
