hi all,
i'm moving my tank in the next couple weeks and want to setup a basement sump, would love the ease of maintenance and the complete silence in the living room.
anyway, the display tank is a 150 gal 72x18x30...and i was thinking of running a 135 (72*18*24) as a sump/fuge/frag tank...the sump will be directly below the tank and 4' off the floor, so i'll have about 10-12 feet of head pressure.
this is the layout i was thinking, i like this layout, but it would limit me to an internal pump...
i have a couple thoughts for the design of the 72" long sump...hoping someone can throw some ideas at me...the only issue i'm having, is i'm thinking of running 1500 through the tank, that would mean 1500 gph blasting through the frag tank, which is ok (no need for powerheads)...
the bottom design is good because i will be able to use an external pump, but this way i would have 1500gph running through the refugium....which is too much right?
btw, i plan on using the beananimal overflow design...
as a final idea, i can always use a smaller sump (90 gal tank, 48*18*24) and plumb a 20gal frag tank to that...
i have not purchased a sump tank yet, so i'm open to options...
thanks!
