I have a few question regarding some fish I have and hope to obtain. I posted in the newby sections, and was accurately advise to post here. Thank you in advance....

For tank stats, its a 6 foot 155 bow front, 40 gallon sump I originally had builty for a 220, custom protein skimmer that was made for 220 gallons and LED lighting.

1. I acquired a spiny box puffer about a week ago. Picks at some food, and immediately spits it out. Have tried clams, squid, brine, silversides and Mysis. Shows little to no interest, waits for something to float by and maybe picks and spits it out. Any suggestions? (side note-all other fish in tank are eating, temp, salinity, nitrates all good.)

2. I currently have the aforementioned puffer, sohal and clown tang, (risky I am well aware), rainbow wrasse , Picasso trigger and a sebae clown. (fish has been in the tank for 5 years more then any other fish I have)

With those 6 fish, I am considering adding 3 or 4 more TOP. Of those, I was looking to do two angels, a grouper ( definitely not a panther, way too big) a lion fish and possibly a banded cat shark.

Now I undersand I am not dealing with damsel sized fish. I explored my outs in the event of too small of a tank, and have a few options. I have a relative with a 300 gallon, 8 foot tank who would be willing to "adopt" my tangs and possibly even shark, and I also have an old high school friend who does tank maintenance as a side job, and he said he would be more than happy to locate the right size home should any of my fish need to upgrade. Of course, I can always upgrade myself.

So with that in mind, would a banded cat or coral shark work with the fish I have. Ive read triggers and puffere can pick at them, and I am in no means married to either the trigger or the puffer. I have zero coral, and about 50 75 lbs of live rock in tank. I also have crushed coral, and have been contemplating switching it out, gracefully if possible, for sand.

Thanks

your tank is currently pretty well stocked and imo is much too small for sharks...trigs should not be kept with lions...your sohal and clown are probably going to be very upset with any newcomers and will probably be very aggressive towards them and may kill them...way too many variables, you really need to figure out what you want in the tank and go from there...
