battery backup

Hi -

i know this is a long shot, but, have you had any customers use a battery back-up feature to power a return pump?? I am looking for a setup to power my tunze silence return pump in order to keep it going in case of a power outage ... Thanks.

I don't know of anyone who has tried it but there is no logical reason it wouldn't work. I would just use a UPS system for a computer, the pump uses 40W about so you can size it based on the chart on the back of most UPS boxes showing how many hours it will run how many watts. It may not start well on the UPS, but if running the UPS can keep it running.

does the pump use 40 watts or 30?? i was planning on using the smaller version of the two??

The smaller one uses 30W.
