Battery Backup

Hello Roger,

I want to have a backup battery to power 6101 during the time if the power goes out. this is my plan so please let me know if it works.

Car battery
Tunze safety connector
DC charger from http://www.batterymart.com/c-12-volt-battery-chargers.html

what I want is as soon as the power goes out, safety connector will switch the power source from AC to DC. Once the power is up, the charger should be able to charge up the battery without over charge it and I want the battery to run 6101 for at least 5hrs up to 10hrs. after that, I have the generator to run.

Can you recommend the general amp for car battery? and type of charger from above link? Im not savy in electrician. Thanks.

could you recommend a battery to run a 6105 for up to 48hrs???? And everything that I would need to make it function!!! thanks

would this work??? I'm not to electrically incline so, about how many hours so you think this battery would run a 6105???

You would need a rather large battery, like one of the Orbital car batteries, these are sealed so they are relatively safe for indoor use. To get 48hrs I would get a 60Ahr battery to account for loss of power to age, wiring and other issues a 6105 at 12V draws slightly more than 1Amp so the number of Amp hours is roughly how long the battery can run the pump.

Do you have a controller connected? Please try it without the controller and please tell me what model controller you are using.

What is likely happening is the power blip activates the foodtimer, in 10 minutes or so the pump would restart.

roger, I tried your suggestion running without the controller and with controller and waited to see if the food timer would kick back on. nothing...I dont think I wired wrong. help, thanks.

Have you checked the fuse on the safety connector? It may be blown or not in all the way or even left out.

yes..I did that too. I even check the battery via the voltage meter to see if it's good or not.
