BB - Refugium?

Thanks for your time.

I have a regium that has about a three inch sand bed in it. Its beginning to accumulate a lot of detriuos - its difficult to clean b/c of the chaeto on top of it. I was thinking about removing the sand bed.

Good or bad idea?

i run a 5.5 bb refu, works for me, not sure why you would "clean" the SB tho, add a PH on the bottom for circulation maybe?
