Bean animal questions

Hello RC, setting up a new 210 with 1" pipe bean animal. Looked at pics did searches still have questions.

Please only answer if you have it setup or used to and really know the answers:cool:

1. So air /emergency drain is Dorso with elbow pointed up. Tip of elbow should be highest in overflow box, preferably 1 inch below top of overflow box. Correct ?

2. Main drain ( Dorso down turned elbow ) basically lowest in overflow box leaving maybe an inch between elbow and bottom of overflow. Correct ?

3. Emergency drain with air hose, Dorso with elbow down. Air hose securely tied slightly above water line. This drain goes between the other two in height. Correct?

I think all above is correct... Please verify

4. Should the middle drain (3) be a. Below water line b. At water line c. Above water line or d. Doesn't matter ??? Specifically which part are we talking about in relation to waterline? The bottom of elbow, the bottom of where water enters the down pipe or the top of the elbow fully submerged durning normal operation???

Thank you.

Nathan

This exact topic was just discussed in the long running bean animal thread. I also posted a picture of my setup in there as well

I responded to your question in the Bean thread, so read that response, too.

I think you are confused about what a Durso is. Just because a pipe has a tee with a downturned elbow coming off of it doesn't make it a Durso is a standpipe that is designed to entrain air, allowing it to remain quiet at higher flow rates. In bean's original design, only the open channel can be considered a durso, albeit a modified one. The other stand pipes have a tee on them, but that is capped and was placed there to allow cleaning of the pipe, not for any functional purpose when the standpipe is running.

you are also confused about the function of the individual pipes. Please read Bean's original description. He explains the function of the drains there.
