beananimal

I am working out the finishing rouches on the tank and stand and plumbing with my system. I have a rear overflow box which is nearly the entire length, short by 4 inches on either side, which is where I have my returns.
I am working out the final details on the beananimal and cant seem to get it to run right. it seems my open channel is always bubbling and making noises, and the level is having a hard time equalizing. I feel as though my siphon is not priming fully and that the open channel is having to carry too much load. any ideas? I will take a video tomorrow so you guys can see whats going on and might get a better idea of what im trying to get across.

If the open has too much flow, increase the flow in the siphon. Do a very small adjustment and let it sit for a while. You don't want to increase the siphon so much it shoots past the open channel or it will suck air soon enough.

A video is not needed. Save the bandwidth. :)

You drains are too deep in the sump, or your air vent line is too low in the overflow (below the inlet to the dry emergency is too low.) Or you have horizontal runs in the drains creating an air lock in the siphon. This is a very common problem, and is fairly easy to fix once the system is implemented according to the instructions. :)

Siphon not fully primed???

How much flow is going through the siphon? Does it start up then break the siphon periodically or has the siphon never started? It is either implemented wrong and you need to fix uncle's comments or just need to close off the valve some more.

Not all of us have uncle's prescience abilities. ;)

Go ahead and make that video! Well lit shots of the OF area and the sump area will help. The more detail you give the better.

Bandwidth - use it or loose it! :)
