Beat ich but lost all my fish to marine velvet :(

I cured my fish of ich using the tank transfer method, was so happy until due to some aggression in the display tank causing stress and then some how out of now where came marine velvet which wiped the tank out in a day and a half.

Marine velvet is deadly......

Sucks to work so hard to treat and beat ich only to lose them to another disease.........

Anyway, how long do I need to leave the tank fallow and what are preventive measure you use to treat marine velvet?

Hopefully the experts will chime in but, I thought it goes fallow for the same amount as ich, but I may be wrong. My LFS said fallow 60 days for velvet, but of course I don't trust them at all some things.

That is interesting. Was anything new added? How do you think the velvet got into your tank? Fallow period for velvet is 6 weeks, but I would go a whole two months.

Really don't know, could have been on a rock i added or perhaps even on the fish. And just showed itself when the fish are stress and weak.
