What is easyest sps corals to keep?

in case you need imformation on about my tank it has 2x 250 watt MH and 4 tunze pumps with a controller, it is a 150 gallon tank with a sump and Deltec APF skimmer.

Montipora is a good starter. Get digitata(thin branched) or capricornus(plate). If you can keep that for more than a month then graduate up to easy acroporas like green slimer(aka A. yongei) or staghorn like A. formosa. Another easier coral is pocillopora damicornus.

A good rule of thumb is when you get dime sized spots of corraline algae your tank is mature enough for SPS. Read all the sticky threads by JBNY on flow& lighting etc.. Stability is key. Especially alk IME/IMO.

Your setup sounds eerily familiar to mine. Good luck.

i would agree with Philwd and i would look into getting a CA reactor if your tank is going to manly sps. you already that a grate setup.

Thanks for replies :)

I have ordered an aquacultured montipora capricornus.

I've heard many people use Rowaphos with exelent results, but when you start using it for a while are the corals gonna be "addicted" to it in results that i cant stop using it?

A CA reactor wouldn't be present for me at the moment, i'm gonna considering buy one later though.

You will need a calcium reactor when you no longer feel like dosing every day. When you are just starting like you are with digies and caps, you will be fine with 2 part and/or kalk for a good long while. Havent heard about corals becomming addicted to rowa. Only thing I could see happening in that regard is natural uptakes such as macro algae in a refugium would die due to a lack of phosphate, then not be around to uptake phosphates when the rowa runs out.

O_O 150 gallon setup with tunzes and only in middle school geez what do you pan to have when your older and have a job the georgia aquarium

do you have any coral in your tank right now? if not then you may want to try lps first

Montipora digitata of most forms,Pocilopora damicornis, Acropora formosa, Montipora capricornis / foliosa if you want something a little more exotic once you get your feet wet try Montipora confusa / spumosa and Montipora hispida

goda, I have corals trust me, I wouldnt try sps corals as first attempt! my plan is to keep my tank and aim for success in case u think im stupid :)

Is it really necessary to dose every day? I have to ask...
