Berghia Nudibranch

Usually confused...
Anyone have one or two the want to sell? My 30 gallon tank is just getting ahead of me with the aptasia. I had been keeping up with it with Aptasia X, but now it is in the cracks and crevices of the rock, where I can't easily disassemble to rock. I have tried peppermint shrimp, but they will only go after aptasia if they cannot find anything else.

One or two online seems to cost more for shipping than the critters.

Do you still have peppermints (or any wrasses for that matter) in your tank? I have a few berghia in my tank - still working on the last few aiptasia (I have to keep relocating them near the nems). Once those last aips are gone - providing I can find the buggers, I'd gladly give as many as I can to you. If you still have the peppermints or wrasses, though, the berghia will just become a tasty snack.

If you have any neat zoa/paly frags, I wouldn't mind that one bit. ;)

I live in North East Phoenix - once I have them, I'd need you to meet me/pick them up fairly quickly. Stay tuned :)

That would be excellent. That tank has no shrimp or wrasses, in it.

I am sure I could find a zoa/paly frag for you! I live NW Phoenix, so let me know!

I'm going to give the little guys one more night/day in my tank - I've been waiting for them to get an aiptasia off one of my frags - if they don't, I'm just going to pull the frag out and remove it myself. I'll try to grab as many as I can find tomorrow night - can you pick up Friday? I'm sure they're getting pretty hungry. Preferably in the morning since I'll just put them in a little cup. Let me know!

Hey Guys, I was able to give John 3 hungry little berghias this morning. I'm going to go berghia hunting again tonight - if anyone needs some (and is willing to drive to my side of town (NE Phoenix) to pick them up AND do it in the morning), let me know.

I think I'm pretty much out of berghia. They did do an AMAZING job on my aiptasia forest though.

Here are my recommendations:

Order a LOT. Don't bother getting the more expensive 1/2" ones (breeding/egg laying size) - if you have pods in your tank (who doesn't?), the egg strands will get eaten. Plus, on my second batch (yep, I ordered TWICE - about 5 weeks apart), I only ordered the 1/4" size, and they were all larger than that anyway. Plus they grow SO fast.

If you order through Salty Underground, ask Lisa if you can get a quantity discount and/or a few extra thrown in - that's assuming you order 10+. I ordered 8 originally (half 1/4", half 1/2") - they made a dent, but they dwindled... probably because I wasn't checking my back chambers for wayward travelers. The second batch wiped out the rest (or at least the vast VAST majority), but I was pulling stragglers out of my back chambers every single night.

Do they work? You bet your sweet arse.
Are they pricey? You bet your sweet arse.

I'd recommend a group buy (wish I would have done that - instead I ordered corals to help lessen the shipping pain x2 - for what it's worth, the corals they sent were GREAT)

If anyone has any questions, let me know. I'm not an expert, but I can at least pass along some of my experience. I kinda miss seeing the little critters crawling around, but I DON'T miss seeing those darn aiptasia!
