Berghia nudibranchs or Peppermint Shrimp for Aptasia

I Could Stop If I Wanted
I've got a small aptasia outbreak that is localized to my clam and its rock. I've tried Aptasia-X but have not had great results and want to see if peppermints or berghia'a were any better.

Whats your opinion on which would be more effective? And, where can I source some locally?

Thanks!!

Everyone will have their own opinion. My success came with making a slurry of kalkwasser paste and use the aptasiaX syringe to cover the mouth of each. Been working great for me. Just don't use too much at a time :)

A reef forum without opinions is like a day without sunshine!! :)

I'm hesitant to mess with kalk because of the clam. They are growing out near the mantle and one is now at the base near the foot. I've also thought of smothering them with crazy glue but have not tried that yet.

Peppermint shrimp only work for me if they have no other option. They will destroy aptasia in my sump but not touch it in the DT.

I've had some lick with aptasiaX but my sailfin tang eats it as I apply it.

Using a syringe to inject them with vinegar has worked well for me.

I've used peppermints in the past with great success. I've thought about the Nudi's but once the aptasia are gone, they starve.

I went with peppermint shrimps, just add to tank, don't feed for a couple days or do minimal spot feeding of your fish for a week, then feed on the heavier side so the aptasia can grab food, the pepps will go after the food that the aptasia ate then no more aptasia in your tank as long as the pepps are moderately fed.

On the plus side, my pepps spawn about twice a month, boom, instant fish and LPS food :)

I had good success with peppermint shrimp as well as aiptaisisa x used in combination. Seems the peps like the smaller aiptasisa more than the big ones. I have not seen an aiptaisia in my display for quite some time. I did however have 1 pep eat a new acan frag on me a few years ago so keep an eye on them.

Go with the pepperment. I got 6 from faois for my 210. As other have mentioned take big one and use apsasia x . I fed mysid and nori only for a week so they did t have much of an option.

OK, I'll give the peppermints a go. Any compatibility concerns with 1 coral banded (large) and 2 cleaner shrimp (large)
