Berghia

I know there was some discussion a few months ago about these little critters, did anyone ever get some and if so, how are they working out?

I didn't go that route, I bought a beautiful butterfly that was subsequentially picked on and ended up in my anemone :(

I also tried peppermint shrimp...didn't work either...

I then tried to use Aptasia X. This stuff worked great...for about 2 months...but now they are back with avengence and it is killing me to see these pests ruin my tank.

Only thing I can think is to try these...I can stomach the thought of tearing the tank apart and killing all my rock to get rid of these buggers.

Let me know if you have tried the berghia and how they worked...also, where should I get them?

Thanks

I have some and they worked great. they do eventually come back if the berghia die off before all of the aiptasia are taken care of. I also bred a couple batches and i have a few left if your interested?

i had the same problem untill i took a syringe full of ALK 2-part and shot each one up with a tiny amount....watched them melt right before my eyes...i thought the liquified aptasia would spread after but none have shown there ugly faces yet..GL!

Frank,

Peppermint shrimp worked great for me. Haven't had an aptasia in months (and I don't have the shrimp in there for quite some time either. One problem with them though is that you have to be careful with the pet stores. They'll try to sell anything as them.

Same here. The peppermint shrimp worked for me

I could also use a few of these things. My tank is 54gal, but are they safe with an Angler in the tank? Id assume they would be fine as they are a slug and never come off the rocks or sand much like a snail does. Please let me know what I have to do to get a few, and how many I would need in my tank. There aren't many large Aptasia, but there are lots of small ones, and also some Majano Anemones. Will the Berghia take care of these as well?

beeee carefull with the peppermints! i have had acans and i could not figured out what was bothering them at night...sometime they looked really messed up. and one morning 3am i checked on my tank and the peppermint was all over them. they will mess with your corals not just your pests! that was the last time i had pepps in my tanks...

What kind of ALK did you use? I guess it really doesn't matter does it? 8 years on my current set up and whamo! Aptasia starting to rear their ugly head. What kind of syringe did you use, medical or basting?
