alright so i have a little aptasia problem and i have been looking into buying some berghias to fix the problem but i know nothing about them so if anyone has any information about them that would be awesome! thanks!
Search web by their name will lead you to instructions of breeding and sellers.
I bought six of them, they were breeding in jars, but none survived in my tanks. Too expensive to try again and jar culture takes too much time to keep longer than few months.
Berghia are great for getting rid of aiptasia. Acclimate them slowly, release into tank, and then they will seemingly disappear. Only saw mine at night, eating aiptasia. So much better than using chemicals and spot dosing.
I would suspect that nothing much more drastic is going to happen when a "berghia" dies in your tank than does when you kill an aptasia w/ kalk in your tank. There could be a slight rise in ammonia as the animal decomposes (but these seaslugs do not get very large), and maybe a loose nemocyst (stinging cell acquired from the aptasia; I think they do that, but I may be remember that incorrectly) or two.
