I'm really curious to hear opinions on how some of you acclimate new fish arrivals...not really to the tank, but to the existing fish which have staked out territory within the aquarium. I've read about people putting their fish into their QT tank, then transferring them to a clear, in tank refugium type thing which allows the other fish already in the tank to visually see the new guy and get used to his presence without getting to nip him up. Does anyone have a good system that works which may be similar or different to this?? I would like to keep the two damsels I have in my 55g tank if possible....they've learned to do ok with a chromis I also have in there so I think there is hope even though they have torn up a couple other fish which I acclimated then placed into the 55g jungle lol. Please give me your opinions/experiences!

I use an acclimation box in my dt after spending 5 weeks in my qt...if the new fish is a bit bigger I will egg crate a section of the dt off for the new fish...also rearrange my lr and keep lights off for a couple days after releasing the new fish into the dt with my other fish...seems to work for me...
Since my first Lennardi, I have bought 3 more.. The 3 new additions are all feeding well now... Eating frozen mysis and brine. They have even started eating flakes and ocean nutrition pellets!
I also introduced 3 choati leopard wrasses which are also hard to get feeding.. 2 of them are eating like pigs and the 3Rd one slowly eating frozen stuff..
My secret is to out them into acclimation boxes in the dt for 24 hours at least.. During that time I offer them live brine shrimp... Which they should like eating. Then on the next might when lights are out I let them out of the box.
After the 2nd day, all the wrasses started to appear.. I feed them live brine for the next few days and then begin mixing it up with frozen.
This method works well on the most finicky wrasse and worked on my moorish idol as well!
