For a 180 gallon reef, maybe 220 total water volume including sump... with a foxface, a lavender tang, a small male bluejaw trigger, 2 clowns, a lawnmower blenny and 3 DAMsels???

Bristletooth tangs are probably the best algae eaters. But don't count on them actually eating the algae you want to get rid of.

No, convicts stay small for tangs and my has never shown any agression to my other fish, he would have plenty of room in a 180.

Personally, I think that the different rabbit fish (Not foxface) will out eat any tang.

It also depends what type of algae you are talking about.
The rabbit fish are also not as picky as tang and will eat many different types.

Kole tang is a good choice. Rabbitfish/foxface start eating zoos & lps after they get older. I know from personal experience.

I agree with Bristletooth tangs, like a Kole tang or Tomini or Chevron (except Chevrons get larger, uglier and meaner as they grow). Another good option might be the Zebrasoma family, like a purple or yellow tang.
