Best Batch of Fish Food

Definitely the best batch of fish food I ever made.

I was tired of my tiny processor, so I picked up a new Black and Decker 8 cup food processor and was able to make my food for at least the next year in one shot. What a breeze with the new one.

1/2 pound Tilapia
1/4 pound Salmon Steak
1/4 pound Farm Tuna
1/2 pound Haddock
1/4 pound Monkfish
1/2 pound Clams
1 tblsp Minced Garlic
2/3 cup Lemon Juice
2/3 cup Carrot Juice

Man did the fish go bonkers tonight. :beachbum:

I love making my own food- I spend around $10.-$20. and it lasts me for a year- sometimes more.

Except for the carrot juice, it would be good grilled! I think homemade food can be alot healthier for the fish, you contol what's in it.

Our fish seem to enjoy our homemade blend of shrimp, squid, mussels and clams over cyclopeeze or reef nutrition products. It's just too bad that squid is so tough that it caught our blender on fire!! :D

Never really though of adding garlic, salmon, tuna or natural juices to the mix. Definitely going to try them in the next batch.

I never buy cyclopeeze no more.

My homemade:

-clams
-squid
-oyster
-shrimp
-tuna
-fish eggs
-nori

blended, then served over water while thawed. Fish could smell it even before it hits the water.

Insane, the only thing I would have added would be some greens algae. :)

BTW, I am a vegetarian and that even sounds good to me. LOL

You know I used to. I would even add veggies to the mix. Unfortunately, I could never get the veggies to a size the fish would eat, and the herbivores would miss the small bits of Nori.

I've had better luck feeding the Nori separately in larger sheets.

What are you using for fish eggs? I always have freezer burn problems, what's the best way to avoid this?
