Best budget lights?

I'm looking for lights for a 40 gal breeder. Not entirely sure if my plans yet but most likely beginner corals and maybe an anemone. What lighting do you recommend? I'm looking for one with a sunrise / sunset and to be energy efficient. The cheapest lights at my LFS run for a little over $300 - is this the best I'll get?

Generally speaking, that is the best budget way to go however there is a short opportunity to purchase some really high quality lights if you are willing to take a risk. I and a couple other people have purchased products from them recently and are very pleased. The WiFi App is only available on android.

I know a person who used to distribute these and recommend the 150W version only because the power supply is much more robust.

But like mcgyvr said, you won't go wrong with most of the chi-com black boxes.

I'm intrigued by the angel lights - cree leds and all. I suspect the original pricing suggests some upgrades like heat dissipation and fan quality.

The tank I'd light is 8 x 3. Three or four of the 150W lights?

3 would be suitable for a mixed reef...4 would be "better".. Seems they have about a 24" square coverage at best....

I'd suggest SB Reef lights either with ramping feature or with WiFi. The ramping is a bit cheaper and kind of better imo because they do not rely on WiFi. Been running the 30" ramp unit over my tank for almost 2 years now. No complaints.

Looks like they really got better quality LED lights there. My uncle might consider them to replace the Chinese knock off he got. I'll come over this weekend to help him install the headache rack and truck bed covers on his Ram. His current led light worked great for a couple of months and now intermittently turning off.
