Best butterfly for an active reef tank?

How often do you clean your worms? Its a daily routine, isn't it? At least I think I read that somewhere.

Yes, if you just keep some in a container in the fridge (as most do), then yes, just rinse them out every day. I use DI water also kept in the fridge. This has worked best for me (kept them for many weeks this way).

Very beautiful. I am also planning on adding a group of yellow tangs when the new tank goes up. What size tank are they all getting along in?

So pairs work alright for the pyramids? I have never had butterflies before, my expertise is with tangs. I'm still learning who does best alone/pairs/groups over 3/etc :) Honestly after seeing everyone's lovely butterflies I wouldn't mind having a pair of a couple different species.

Hi, it's a 920gal housing a variety of tangs and a pair of the Yellow pyramids.

I'm going to be adding 3 more Pyramids, 1 yellow and 2 Brown

Just to clarify, the majority of butterflies don't just "pair" easily... you have to get a true M/F pair(that like each other), otherwise they hate each other (and they don't change sex). I'm not sure how different that is with Hemitaurichthys species.

Thanks SDguy that's good information. Exactly the type I'm looking for with this thread. Would you suggest 3+ or a single for the yellow pyramid?

And then I assume a single if I were to choose a copperband or yellow longnose? I doubt I'll be able to find a mated pair.

This is not the case for the Yellow Zoster.
The Yellow Pyramid Butterfly is quite shy at first, and should be provided multiple hiding places. The ideal aquarium will be at least 125 gallons and will contain plenty of live rock that will provide hiding places, and a supplemental food source. They may be kept singly, in pairs or small numbers.

So LA has Yellow Pyramids in stock... but they are Indo. I try to avoid everything I can from there because of the collection and handling that can go with it. Is it worth waiting and paying some extra for Hawaiian?
