best corals and frags around chicago

In two weeks I will be heading down to Chicago. Friday spending the day at 6 flags and Saturday coral shopping. I am mainly looking for frags. Possibly a colony but I would like to stay with frags. What are the absolute must stop to see and then the best frags around town. Thanks....I will be mostly looking for sps and lps.

Since you will be in the Gurnee area, you should get in touch with Andrea and Dennis at Sharky's Reef (www.sharkysreef.com). They have a lot of nice lps and they will frag most colonies.

For the NE area, definitly Sharky's. Shotank in Mundelien is a good stop as well.

LOL, we aren't Sharky's but do have some stuff available.

A bit West of there is Ocean's Floor. That and Sharky's are the only places I'd go to up far North.

If you can get to the city, Reef Dweller (a.k.a. Menard's) is tremendous.

If you really seriously want to drive (from Gurnee, at least 90min) Rod's Reef in DeKalb, but that'd be a haul.

I will have my boys with me so extra travel will be limited. We can and probably will get into the city.

Do I need to set anything up or are these places regular stores?

Sharkeys is by appointment only, best time would be a weekend. Shoot them an e-mail to set it up.

Everything else is a storefront.

Sho Tank is a good choice, it is easy to get to from Sharkeys ( Half hour south on 45).

reef dweller on the north side is the way to go for frags

if you head out to oceans floor, there is aquatic reef too, in dundee off of rt31, I just saw that they got a bunch of new coral that will be for sale in a day or 3...
