best equipment you never needed

What is the best peice of equipment you bought that you never thought you really needed before you got it? Just to get this started I'll go first. For the longest time I never had a filter sock, though I always had a sump. I just never really thought they were that necessary. Then I decided I would get one just to help polish up the water a little. Man....thats just about the best thing I ever did for my tank. And all this time I thought I didnt need one.

Keeps my water sparkling clean and my fish have no disease since its installation (yeah yeah, may just be coincidence)

Dosing pumps. Unlike me, they never come home late and forget to add Ca! The tank has been much happier since they were added.

Auto top off system

Auto top off system

Just installed a jbj auto top off system today, hoping its all its cracked up to be. Main push to do it was to keep my skimmer from acting up and to ease the transition from fowlr to reef tank. (not to mention less work of adding from ro/di constantly)
