Hello I recently purchased two clowns and they are not eating the shrimp pellets I bought. Also the flipp'n cleaner shrimp keeps stealing the food. What should I do? What should I feed them?

Thanks
Jeff

i'm no expert, but i feed mainly frozen. mysis, emerald entree, spirulina brine shrimp, cyclopleeze. my clown devours everything i put in the tank. i also feed Bio-Blend pellets once in a while. if you try frozen, make sure you rinse it before you put it in the tank.

i feed mine the frozen brine/mysis shrimp cubes. he goes nuts when i drop some into the tank. i also crumble up the formula one flakes. i like to take a small cup and get a little bit of tank water in it. i then add some pieces of frozen cubes, formula one flakes and then a couple drops of the garlic Xtreme. i let that soak for a few minutes and then dump it into the tank. they seem to go crazy for the mix.

I agree with everl0ng. My false percs were picky eaters as well when I first got them and they pretty well tested my nerves as far as feeding all sorts of things. After a lot of trial and error, I now alternate between feeding flake (that I crush up and let soak in Selcon), zooplankton (get a small pipette full), and Reef Complete frozen cubes (let thaw in Selcon for about 10 minutes). I used to just dump it all in there but now I just add a little bit at a time and make sure that they eat it all before it all collects on the bottom.

I still haven't got them to eat pellets but I'm sure they will at some point once I add another fish or two and competition increases :)

Hope that helps.

Adam

Oh yeah, don't be surprised if they act like they can eat every minute of the day :) Mine act like they are starved or something.

My tomato and true percula go nuts over just about anything. Flake, pellets, frozen, and cocktail shrimp.

Frozen mysis seem to be best for them. But i have alternating mixes. Mysis with reef bugs in the morning and mysis with cyclopleeze at night. I also mix different veggies for the tangs.
