Hello, I am thinking about getting a flame angel and I just wanted to research the food that they eat a little bit.

What are your best choices of feeding for this fish? what do you recommend?

thanks!

Most will eat just about anything. I feed my angels a variety including mysis, chopped mussel, pellets, nori, Marine Cuisine, Emerald Entree, occassional flake, frozen plankton, minced clam, and sponge based foods. They also graze algal film and diatoms from the glass and rocks.

nice. It sounds like they are easy to feed?? Is this so? Would I have brine shrimp for my clowns and spirulina flakes. do you think it would be wise to get some frozen made for angels?

Brine shrimp are a waste as they have no nutritional value. Angel foods with spnge in them are never a bad idea. The key is to provide them with a variety of foods and greens/algaes. Spectrum pellets are always good too.

The best food for flame angels and any marine fish for that matter is home made gel based food. That way you can incorporate all necessary foods and supplements. Most national aquariums use in house made gel based foods. These foods have made it much easier to breed many marine fish in captivity. Proof in point is what RCT was able to do with Interruptus and other pygmy angels. I use this food exclusively. Even my eels eat it. Do a search and you will find a recipe. Regards, Tim

I fed my last one: flakes, pellets, nori, several different frozen blends and occasionally live brine - musta been good enough because it was with me 8 years (RIP). THey will graze off the tank walls and rocks for algae also.
