Best HOB Skimmer?

Id warn against aquac - dated tech + finicky.. I am replacing my ev180 cause it requires so many mods for it to work and now its not worth it because its frankly a bit old and has been very finicky .. also its started to crack up little by little over the past year...

My recommendation would be an aquamaxx hob or deltec mce600/300..

But I guess you already bought one.. reef octopus is good too from what I hear.

I have a Aqua-C Remora + Maxijet 1200. I like it, but sometimes I feel like I can do better. I did some mods though to make it better, like mods to make it more quiet and have a tighter seal to get better skimmate. It skims pretty wet so you have to make sure you don't add DI water to top it off your tank. I had to mod it to get dry skimate.

Otherwise, it's a good skimmer (just don't buy it full price).

I've been running a Remora C Hob on a 30 gal for three years. Performs well, once you find the right height for the collection cup. I also have a spare one from a tank I took down. It's for sale if your interested. Comes with maxi-jet 1200, overflow drain, and plug, if you don't want to use that feature, and a baffle ,that has made it quiet. Like new condition. I don't have the overflow box for this one.

+1

I just got the reef octopus bh2000 and I love it. As said before the bubbles at first were a pain but now no bubbles and man does it pull some nasty stuff.

I have the same one. But I find the bubbles start up again after every water change.

I have the BH1000 and it is a great skimmer. I took all of the sponges out and trimmed the inlet pipe so the skimmer cup is above water a little bit. It could be anecdotal but it seemed like I was getting better results from the skimmer when I did that as well. I stopped losing fish to the skimmer so that alone was worth the change.
