Hey guys I'm looking to be moving up to Sacramento in the next month from Santa Barbara and was wondering where are the best LFS out in the area? Thanks

Lots of good stores spread out in Sacramento. Your Reef Aquarium has a huge selection of Coral in Roseville. AquaLife is building a new store in Rocklin they have a large selection of fish and do fresh salt ponds and servicing. AquaWorks in South Sac has a massive dry goods section and tons of fish and coral.

And there are still more stores.

In my opinion, the best store overall is Your Reef in Roseville. Awesome selection of frags and he is a very knowledgeable guy. I do like AquaWorks as well, they have a ton of stuff in there and a pretty large tank section. There is also Aquarium Depot off Auburn blvd which is a friendly store as well, however I feel they try to go for more quantity over quality. Those are personally my go to 3

Your reef for coral. Aquarium depot for the rest. Aquarium depot carries high quality brands like ADA, Vertex, and Korallen-Zucht.

I also used to live on the central coast (SLO) and I'll say you'll be surprised by the coral Your Reef carries. Plus John is very knowledgeable about coral. He knows his stuff.

Every store has ro and saltwater.
YourReef gives you 10 gal ro with $10 purchase
Aquilife gives 10 salt or ro for $10

YourReef probably has best corals in town
Aquilife is a very close second, but usually cost more
Aqua Works has a huge place and by default has many more things to choose from and usually some great diamonds in the rough as well as tons of excellent fish.
Aquarium Depot is less expensive than those three, with average fish and every once in a while has nice corals.
So, for staples, go to Aquarium Depot
For premium corals, Yourreef
For fish, Aqua Works or possibly Aqualife

The most annoying thing about Aqua Works and Aqualife is that they don't list a majority of their prices and I have watched different prices be quoted to different people in 5 minutes of each other.

I've had decent luck at all of the LFSs here in town. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses so you should hop to each store and give them all a fair shake!

I experienced the price variance quotes just last week, found it odd. Dress down and drive a beater to take advantage of the lower price quotes. Lol. Aside from that they Cary a good light selection and I saw so.e acans that were very reasonably priced.

Went to Aqua Workz for the first time a couple weeks ago and was really impressed. Saw a Gem Tang in person for the first time... Tons of different corals at all price ranges and some really nice LPS in particular. Owner and employees were nice and helpful and prices seemed reasonable too.

Good place to try if you're getting frags from tfp...
