I'm in the Phoenix area, but would like to take a trip to Tucson to visit a few LFS.

The ones are go to the most here are Aquarium Arts, Reef Culture, and sometimes AquaTouch.

Are there a few down there you guys would recommend?

Thanks!

Go to SEA on Campbell, Southwest Saltwater on Oracle and GQ fish on Grant . All have quality fish and corals. They are about 10 minutes driving apart.

Sometimes I can find unique things (macro algae and such) at Tropical Kingdom on Prince and Campbell. But I agree with SEA first, then SWSW, GQ has really cool (strawberry wine?) palys. Then there's........Oasis...o.O

What is the full name or address of Oasis? Tried to google it, but came up with several non-fish stores...

http://www.oasistropicalfish.com/

But this place is for sure a buyer beware! Too many flatworms, aiptasia, majanos, hair algae. Nearly anybody who is a reefer in Tucson, shivers when they think about Oasis. The black sponges are the only cool things there.

Ive seen the stores in Phoenix, why are you coming here? Best to come on a weekend, I think most of the stores get shipments on Fri and Wed.

Just visiting for a day, thought I would check out the LFS there. When I can, I try to do that wherever I travel.

Are those stores open Sunday? Or just Saturday?

They are all open on Sunday. Not sure about Oasis, it is hit and miss sometimes they're closed sometimes there open. I just gave up on them....

Make sure to bring a gas mask, the place always smells like month old animal poop

I was at TK one day and an older couple were walking from the back of the store and you could tell the wife was less than thrilled to be there, when she stated loudly "this place stinks" the man turned around and matter of factly told her "its a pet store wadda you expect?" my kids and I busted up as she proceeded to make faces and hiss at his back.....

If a pet store stinks, its obvious the animals are not being kept clean. Look at the fish section, might have cool stuff, but can't see the fish for all the algae/scum, especialy the salt section.

Went in Tropical Kingdom and I have to say it's worse now than it ever was...but there is a store that's worse than them in Tucson! It's called Desert Pet Center on 22nd. Total garbage of a store. The fish are sick and starving and everything is super dirty.

I was in Petco on oracle and automall today and they have really stepped up their game, fish are very healthy, good prices and corals look pretty good, its a small selection but what they have looks pretty nice.
