Hey Everyone,
I just recently bought a new 150 gallon tank for my basement, and have discovered that while I have years of experience with livestock and filtration, my knowledge is woefully inadequate on the topic of lighting. My other tank is a 90 gallon mixed reef with a DIY t5 6 bulb set up that I made flying by the seat of my pants, and somehow have had success with. This new tank I want to be different. Today was spent knocking out a hole in a wall of our basement, as to allow the new 150 gallon to be lined up with that wall, and to have the back sticking into the empty room behind. This allows me an option that I have not had with the 90 gallon. While the old tank is in the living room, and therefore must have lights which can be supported within a moderately low canopy, My new space has no such height requirements and I can finally use some high quality/hanging lights. My question is, WHAT SHOULD I DO???? I want to keep lots of sps/lps and have them flourish, but have no idea on name brands, halide vs. LED, amount of light to use, ect. What light types/fixtures do you all suggest for getting the best possible results for the new reef?
Thanks a ton!!!!
